Well folks I write to you today as a very lucky (and foolish) duck.
Boston is such a lovely town. I did all the obligatory touristy activities, but I really have to say the freedom trail was by far the most inspiring. It’s easy to get caught up in the moment when you realize you are very literally following history. Not to mention all the glorious plant life and architecture you pass as you follow the red bricks. So maybe I have some modicum of an excuse for losing my Baha sound processor- I was lost in the past.
While I was walking along the trail, I was listening to a Freedom Trail audio tour with headphones in. I had my sound processor muted (with my phone, might I add (still SO cool)) so the road noise wouldn’t interfere with my ability to hear what sound was playing from my iPhone. Somewhere along the line, probably either as a result of taking off my jacket or my backpack, I inadvertently snapped my sound processor off of my head. I honestly have no idea how I didn’t notice, it’s not like the sensation of my sound processor snapping on and off my head is subtle! Chalk it up to distraction I guess.
So little old me went wandering along the Freedom Trail and arrived in Boston Commons, delighted with my taste of history and the pleasant walk. I pulled out my headphones, went to close the audio program and saw a notification on my phone saying “Your Baha 5 Sound Processor has been disconnected”. Confused, I reached up to touch my sound processor and felt the bottom drop out of my stomach as I realized it wasn’t there. A minute or so of panic followed as I frantically dug in my bag, hoping that I had put it away on autopilot.
I sat on a bench in the park for a few moments, panicking and ruminating on how I really shouldn’t own expensive things, when suddenly I remembered: the Baha 5 Smart App has a locate device program! I don’t think there has ever been a moment when I have been more grateful for technology. As the little yellow bar continued to work its way up and up the screen, my panic began to subside and finally burned out when I caught sight of a little brown speck lying on the side of the road.
Believe me you- I slept extremely well that night.
I’m off to D.C. next week and am very excited about it. Hopefully nothing else untoward occurs…
Have a lovely week!
