It is important to take care of your Cochlear™ Nucleus® 6 Sound Processor so that you can enjoy uninterrupted hearing and hear the moments that matter most to you.  There is one little trick that may save you from a headache and money spent on replacement parts.

Did you know that one of the common mistakes Nucleus 6 Sound Processor recipients make is twisting the coil cable?  Twisting the coil cable may irreparably damage the Nucleus 6 Sound Processor cable port, coil, and/or the cable.

Change the N6 Coil CableFollow these simple steps in the event you need to change the coil cable:

  1. Hold the coil cable grip.

IMPORTANT: Do not tug on the flexible part of the cable or twist the coil cable when removing from the sound processor.

  1. Use your fingernails to hold the cable grip and pull the coil cable firmly off the coil.

REMINDER: Do NOT twist the coil cable!

  1. Push the new coil cable into the sound processor until it clicks into place.
  1. Push the new coil cable into the coil until it clicks into place.

The same principle applies when using the Cochlear™ Nucleus® Aqua+.

N6 Aqua+ Dos and Donts Change Coil CableDo:

  • Do hold the coil cable grip.
  • Do firmly pull the coil cable straight out the sound processor to remove it or push it straight in to attach it.

Don’t:

  • Do not pull on the coil cable.
  • Do not twist the coil cable plug.
