Baha® recipient Andria and her husband, Bert, share how single-sided deafness didn’t stop Andria from succeeding at work, enjoying family and loving life.

“I’m incredibly active. I’m a businesswoman. My husband and I own and operate our own hotel company. I serve on multiple board of directors. I enjoy spending time with family, traveling, going out to eat and hiking with my husband, Bert, and our dog. I love being busy and sharing my life with people.

One day, I suddenly was no longer able to hear out of my right ear. It was devastating. I struggled to hear in meetings at work, to take roll call at board meetings, to have a conversation in a restaurant or on a walk with my husband. People assumed I could hear because I still had one ‘good’ ear, but I couldn’t tell where sound was coming from and missed out on what people were saying. I started to isolate myself.

We heard about the Baha System, did a lot of research and decided that this was the way to go. I am so happy with the decision. Now I have my life back again. I can be in a meeting, talking on the phone, hiking, eating out and just going through my day actually hearing the conversation again. It’s such a relief.

And with great features like the Smart App and True Wireless accessories, hearing is just so simple. These features adjust to where I am and bring the sound to me so I can hear clearly wherever I go. It’s just incredible!

It’s part of me and allows me to walk through life feeling engaged.”
