baha-5-cindy-heroEveryone has a different story. Perhaps you woke up one morning and found you couldn’t hear on one side. Maybe your child was born with atresia/microtia. Likely you’ve gone through life struggling to hear even though you tried hearing aids.

One question we often get from those considering the Cochlear™ Baha® 5 System is “What is the difference between the Baha Attract and Baha Connect System?”

Let’s start with how they are the same. Both the Baha Attract and Baha Connect System use the body’s natural ability to conduct sound through bone conduction. They may be a solution for you if you are deaf in one ear, or if you have conductive or mixed hearing loss. Both systems use the small and discreet Baha 5 Sound Processor, which is full of advanced hearing technologies designed to help you hear better than before with revolutionary features such as SmartSound® IQ technology, the Baha 5 Smart App and true wireless freedom with Cochlear Wireless Accessories.

The difference between the Baha Attract and Baha Connect System is the way that the sound processor attaches to the implant. The Baha Attract System uses a magnetic connection to attach the sound processor directly to the implant. The benefit is that the implant is hidden beneath the skin, making the system invisible when the sound processor is not attached. The Baha Connect System uses a small abutment to attach the sound processor directly to the implant. The benefit is that the direct connection maximizes hearing performance.

Baha Systems

If it’s determined you are a good candidate for either Baha System, you’ll have an opportunity to test the sound processor on a Baha Softband. Your Hearing Implant Specialist will recommend which system is best suited to your individual needs. Remember, you are not alone in this journey. We are here and ready to help support you and answer your questions. You can also reach out to a Cochlear Volunteer and ask them about their experience living with Baha technology.
