brett-lee-unindian-film-cochlearWednesday night was the worldwide premiere of unINDIAN at Fox Studios in Sydney. The red carpet event was filled with fun, glitz and lots of Bollywood dancing.

unINDIAN is an Australian-Indian romantic comedy starring Cochlear Global Hearing Ambassador and cricketer Brett Lee, and lead actress Tannishtha Chatterjee.

Tannishtha plays Meera, a smart and independent mother who works for Cochlear. Meera is pressured by her family to find ‘a nice Indian match’. Then Meera meets Will… tall and blonde with a charming smile. But falling in love with an Australian man is not only scandalous – it’s unindian! Does she do as her family wishes? … Or does she follow her heart and live her life the way she wants? Highlighting the complexities of wooing another from a different culture, unINDIAN is a comedy with a lot of heart and a little spice!

Part of the movie unINDIAN was shot at the Cochlear headquarter office in Sydney with bilateral recipient, Jane Goodfellow, as an extra playing the receptionist.

The movie is officially released to the general public on October 15. There is still no word on when the movie will appear in other countries.

Brett Lee, Cochlear Global Hearing Ambassador

As Cochlear Ambassador, Brett participates in a campaign to raise awareness of the significant medical, social and economic impacts hearing loss can have on individuals and their families.

Brett said, “Hearing loss is a huge global public health issue. I can’t imagine cricket without sound, off the field not hearing team mates, or at home not hearing family. A cochlear implant can change all of that. I’ve seen it happen. The implant takes a person from silence to sound. It is a wonderful, life changing moment.”
