Sometimes unfortunate circumstances can be the beginning of something wonderful.
Take Dwight J’s experience, for example—he lost his sound processor but ended up finding an alternative that worked even better than he hoped.
Watch as Dwight retells the story of upgrading to the Baha® 5 Sound Processor, as well as the new features he loves the most:
About a year ago, Dwight said he returned from a hike and noticed he was having trouble hearing on his right side, where he normally wore his Baha 3 (BP100) sound processor. He realized he had lost his processor during the hike, and when he was unable to find it, he called Cochlear to get a replacement.
“(The Cochlear representative) said, ‘We’re no longer doing the BP100. We’re doing the later version called the Baha 5,’” Dwight recalled.

When he upgraded to the latest processor, Dwight was pleased to find that he could use the latest features in his day-to-day life. He said he enjoys using the Bluetooth® connectivity to stream calls straight from his iPhone® to his sound processor.
Dwight and Cochlear
Dwight is an active member of his local Cochlear Community chapter. At a recent Walk for Hearing in Littleton, Colorado, he served as team captain for the Cochlear participants. He dressed up as Indiana Jones at the event.
“We are raiders in search of hearing,” he said. “We had one of the largest participation teams, if not the largest, here at the Walk for Hearing.”
During the event, Dwight said his Mini Mic helped him to connect with others in spite of the external noise.
“I have my Mini Mic at all times with me,” he said. “I put it on whoever I’m talking to if I’m in a loud situation, so that I’m able to hear them. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to.”
He said the Cochlear Community is a place of support where recipients can hear and be heard.
“Cochlear culture oozes with a four-letter word: care,” he said. “They care about people.”
