Summer is in full swing! For many teenagers that means extra time to hang out with friends, play sports, and level up in their favorite video games.

Among them is Pearson H., a 14-year-old bilateral Cochlear recipient who recently upgraded to Nucleus® 7 Sound Processors. He says the upgrade has helped him hear his favorite sounds with new clarity.

Watch as he describes the difference it made in his day-to-day life:

Unboxing the Sound Processors

Pearson’s mom, Donna, says the upgrade was an emotional experience.

“He came outside and signed for it, and opened up the box,” she recalls. “He was so overwhelmed. His eyes filled up with tears. It was just incredible.”

Pearson says he was immediately impressed with the improvement in sound quality.

“When I first got my Nucleus 7, everything sounded clearer,” he says.

Thanks to the latest advancements in wireless connectivity, he is able to stream audio from his iPhone® and TV straight to his processors.

“I can just get out my phone, and push TV Streamer, then the TV Streamer sends the sound right into my ears,” Pearson says. “It’s amazing.”

On the Court

The wireless connectivity also comes in handy when playing sports.

When he heads to the tennis court, Pearson uses the Mini Mic accessory to stream his coach’s voice directly to his sound processors.

“I can hear him across the court,” Pearson says.

The Newest and Best Technology

Pearson said he recommends the Nucleus 7 Sound Processor to other recipients.

“I would say don’t be scared, because it will be amazing,” he says. “It makes me feel inspired. I’m really glad I got that.”

His mother, Donna, agrees. She says that as a parent, she wants her son to have the “newest and best technology,” and the Nucleus 7 Sound Processors were a perfect fit.

“Everything about it is improved,” Donna says. “One of the first things he said when he put them on, he was like, ‘I don’t ever want to turn them off.’ He just fits right in, like any normal kid.”
