Cochlear technology has developed rapidly over the past several decades. Gone are the days when you needed wires, batteries, and external devices to stream audio to your sound processor. With the Baha® 5 and Nucleus® 7 Made for iPhone connectivity, you can connect your processor to your smartphone wirelessly in a matter of seconds.

It’s easy to stay connected to the sounds that matter most. Stream audio from phone calls and FaceTime® straight to your sound processor, listen to music and videos without having to untangle your constantly-knotted headphones, and even change programs, adjust volume and view your processor’s battery status with a simple tap on your screen.

The best part? You don’t need any extra accessories or add-ons. The Baha 5 and Nucleus 7 processors have built-in Made for iPhone connectivity, so all you need is your iPhone and your sound processor.

Baha® 5 Smart App

McKenna using the Baha Smart App

Unilateral Baha 5 Power recipient, McKenna, said she likes being able to send sounds and notifications directly from her iPhone® to her processor.

“Yes, you can get (your iPhone) to vibrate or turn up the volume, but it helps to hear notifications and calls in my processor and not have to worry about anyone else hearing it,” she said.

Camille, a bilateral Baha 5 recipient, said she uses the connectivity to listen to music while walking to school, and she appreciates how easy it is to change her volume and hearing programs.

“I love being able to have control over my Baha processors through my iPhone,” she said. “There have been many times in school, with friends, or at the movies, where I needed to adjust the volume up or down, and it is so nice to control the volume on my iPhone. It is so discrete! No one can tell if I am turning my volume up or down on them.”

Nucleus® Smart App

Now, Nucleus recipients can also enjoy the benefits of wireless connectivity.

The recently-announced Nucleus 7 is the first generation of Nucleus sound processors that are directly compatible with an iPhone. They are also the smallest and lightest behind-the-ear cochlear implant sound processors available on the market.1-2

Download the Nucleus Smart App to access brand-new features designed to improve your hearing experience. The Hearing Tracker feature records coil-off time (each time the sound processor coil does not detect the implant coil, such as if it has fallen off a child’s head) and time in speech (which measures the amount of time you spend in speech environments, including FM and streaming).

The Nucleus Smart App Find My Processor feature helps locate a lost sound processor by using Location Services to determine the last place the sound processor was connected to the paired iPhone or iPod touch®, whether it has been lost on the playground, in the house or in the car.

If you use an Android™ device or any other smartphone, you can stream phone calls, music and more directly to your Nucleus 7 Sound Processor by using the True Wireless™ Phone Clip. You can also control the Nucleus 7 Sound Processor by using the Remote Control that is included with new systems.
