Richard Reed, a professional musician and cochlear implant recipient, has curated a Spotify playlist for Cochlear’s Bring Back the Beat music app. Richard lives and breathes music on a daily basis and compiled the playlist based on his experiences with different genres of music, pitch and tone.

The playlist features almost 50 hits across multiple genres for people with cochlear implants who may find listening to music a challenge. With this playlist, you can listen to a wide range of hits by popular artists – from Elvis to Johnny Cash. And if the classics are more your style, the list also features music from Mozart and Tchaikovsky.

“Music might not sound the way you remember it, but don’t be disheartened. Take this as your chance to make new favorites,” Richard says.

Bring Back the Beat music app

The Bring Back the Beat music app is a fun interactive smart phone app developed by Cochlear that uses gaming to bring to life different activities centered around pitch and music perception. As well as this Spotify playlist, Cochlear has added some other features to make the app more fun and rewarding such as community challenges to help recipients earn extra rewards and climb the leaderboard. Users will also receive notifications and encouraging words from time to time to give guidance on how far they’ve progressed.  By answering some of the survey questions posted occasionally within the app, recipients can help Cochlear to design the next version of the app.
